I discovered a bottle buried in the sand.
Enclosed as a message.
The words that were scribed read... "It's been a while since we've seen our sun rise."
The skies are deserted despite the sacrifices we've made. We're blinded by betrayal.
All that remains is barbed
wire braille and the encrypted messages they are so meaningless. The message hit me like a tsunami.
You know I forget where I came from/ I refuse to become a vacant memory.
In my mind I could see the vacancy in their eyes radiate.
Their hearts are frozen with arms wide open. they're not alive just breathing.
I will go back. When I found it. I was left with bated breath.
Empathy reigned over me.
When I found it buried in the sand.
My tears ripped right through my hands.
I'm going home to split the sky.
The sun will rise.
The message hit me like a tsunami.
You know I won't forget where I cane from.
I refuse to become a vacant memory.
It was in that moment I realized my dreams have became nightmares. I will go back.
